Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information Spruikr collects, why, and what you can do about it. Spruikr is an Australian sole trader business and handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
- When you ask for a free check or join a waitlist: your business name, your name, your suburb or area, your website address if you have one, and your email address. Nothing else is required and there is no phone field.
- When you become a customer: the above, plus what we need to do the work, such as your Google Business Profile details and your service and pricing information. Payment is handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.
- Automatically: standard web server information such as your IP address, the pages you visited and your browser type. We keep the IP address attached to a form submission so we can deal with spam and abuse.
- We do not use advertising trackers, sell data, or run third-party analytics that profile you across other websites.
Why we use it
To run your free check and email you the result, to deliver the service you paid for, to answer you when you contact us, to send occasional updates if you ticked the consent box, and to keep records we are required by law to keep. We do not use your information for anything else without asking you first.
Consent and marketing
The consent checkbox on our forms is never pre-ticked. Marketing emails only go to people who ticked it, every one carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect within 2 business days. You will still get emails about work we are doing for you, because that is the service, not marketing.
AI and automated processing
Wren, our AI assistant, processes your business information to draft pages, posts and review replies. A human approves that work before it is published. We do not make automated decisions that have a legal effect on you. Your information is not used to train any public AI model.
Who else sees it
Only the service providers we need to run the business: our website and form hosting (Cloudflare), our email provider, and our payment provider. They act on our instructions. Some of them store data outside Australia, including in the United States, which means your information may be held overseas under APP 8. We also disclose information where the law requires it.
Keeping it safe, and how long
Access is restricted, credentials are held separately and traffic to this site is encrypted. We keep enquiry records for 2 years from your last contact, and customer and financial records for 7 years as tax law requires, then delete them. No system is perfectly secure; if a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
Your choices
Email [email protected] to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, withdraw consent, or have it deleted where we are not required to keep it. We will respond within 30 days and we will not charge you to access your own information. If you are not happy with how we handled it, complain to us first and then, if it is still unresolved, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
